I was in the role of an Enterprise Agile DevOps Coach for several years before I became a professional certified coach. I started as a Scrum Master, a leader and coach for an Agile team, and then gradually began sharing my expertise informally with other teams as my team excelled in our delivery of high-quality features on time with high quality and in a repeatable way that made the pace sustainable and the work fun (yes, fun) for everyone involved.
As my skill and knowledge of Agile and Lean grew, I did more and more coaching of teams, and I eventually became a full-time Agile DevOps Coach to the enterprise. I led the transformation of the corporation's Information Technology department in this role. I was certified as a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Program Consultant (SPC) by Scaled Agile, Inc., and trained members of the department from the general managers to the front-line developers.
